Tobias the Physician

This is a quick sketch of my HârnMaster Kèthîra character, Tobias. A murder investigation in Meselynshire is slowly unveiling a conspiracy. Though the game is set in the kingdom of Kaldor, Tobias hails from western Hârn. A son of a leatherworker, his stitches are flawless. Unlike most physicians, he is somewhat versed in embalming.

Hârnic Orcs

There are five varieties of gargun (“orc”) in HârnWorld, and all of them are very different from your average fantasy orcs. Biologically, they are closer to insects than to mammals with their egg-laying queens. Culturally, they are inherently violent and unstable. This illustration I did for the new HârnMaster Kethira depicts two of them: a smaller Gargu Arak (“streaked”) and a taller (and violent) Gargu Khanu (“black”).

This was also my first serious effort with Krita – the open source painting software. It was too short a test-run to become accustomed with it, and I was mostly working on a beat-up Lenovo Thinkpad, so there was a sudden lag every now and then. On iMac, it ran without hick-ups.

HârnMaster: Roleplaying in the World of Kèthîra

Earlier this week, Keléstia Productions published a new, sleek version of HârnMaster. HârnMaster Kéthîra (HMK) was written with gameplay spanning the entire Kèthîra in mind instead of just the island of Hârn.

Although I have not read all of the 436 pages yet, I have been fortunate enough to have played it during the development. And — over the years — I illustrated the weapons, the armour and the bestiary in addition to the front cover (see below).

Friends, Foes & Followers

Girtah / FFF15

A new Friends, Foes & Followers batch was just released! It’s is a collection of characters written for Hârn but adaptable anywhere. The latest batch of twelve profiles is the 15th in the series, so there are already quite a few of them. This time the characters are all women ranging from knights to wizards, burglars to priestesses.

All profiles are two-page entries with stats, equipment, backgrounds and portraits. They can be used as non-player characters or characters, if you like. And it’s downloadable for free! (Thanks, Kerry)
