This is a quick sketch of my HârnMaster Kèthîra character, Tobias. A murder investigation in Meselynshire is slowly unveiling a conspiracy. Though the game is set in the kingdom of Kaldor, Tobias hails from western Hârn. A son of a leatherworker, his stitches are flawless. Unlike most physicians, he is somewhat versed in embalming.
Hârnic Orcs
There are five varieties of gargun (“orc”) in HârnWorld, and all of them are very different from your average fantasy orcs. Biologically, they are closer to insects than to mammals with their egg-laying queens. Culturally, they are inherently violent and unstable. This illustration I did for the new HârnMaster Kethira depicts two of them: a smaller Gargu Arak (“streaked”) and a taller (and violent) Gargu Khanu (“black”).
This was also my first serious effort with Krita – the open source painting software. It was too short a test-run to become accustomed with it, and I was mostly working on a beat-up Lenovo Thinkpad, so there was a sudden lag every now and then. On iMac, it ran without hick-ups.
A commissioned portrait
I was recently commissioned a pen-of-ink drawing of a young Kaldoran nobleman who is acquainted with fire magic. In HârnWorld, this means he is a Shek Pvar journeyman (Satia Mavari) attuned to Peleahn convocation.
HârnMaster: Roleplaying in the World of Kèthîra
Earlier this week, Keléstia Productions published a new, sleek version of HârnMaster. HârnMaster Kéthîra (HMK) was written with gameplay spanning the entire Kèthîra in mind instead of just the island of Hârn.
Although I have not read all of the 436 pages yet, I have been fortunate enough to have played it during the development. And — over the years — I illustrated the weapons, the armour and the bestiary in addition to the front cover (see below).
Klaus Lousebeard
I’ve heard a man in crisis
(Michael Timmins/Cowboy Junkies)
Falls back on what he knows best,
A murderer to murder
A thief to theft
I painted another gritty character portrait. After 30+ WFRP 2e sessions, we’re embarking on Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4e test drive this week. As a result of the various random tables my character Klaus turned out a penniless thief.

A new issue of HârnWorld fanzine Thonahexus has been published.
I was commissioned for a half-page illustration of a Morgathian priest for Matt Leber‘s article ”Ivor’s Lair”. I am happy how the altar piece of Dejekis turned out.
Lothar the Coachman
I’m playing a coachman in the Enemy Within campaign for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (2. edition). Lothar has the usual coachman’s trappings, except for blunderbuss which has been replaced by a crossbow. It has proved a reliable weapon. Then again, black powder has been a great help when available in large quantities.
A moment of reflection on the way back to Bögenhafen after Death on the Reik. The events have been disturbing, to say the least.
Continue readingSegedoo Bendix
Segedoo Bendix is an engineer with a physique of young Woody Allen. In a tight spot, he will be stressed out before the advantage of having four (or maybe six) hands pays off.
The Xexto figure probably has more human-like proportions than the canon would suggest. The sketch was drawn during the gaming session between taking notes and sipping tea.
Praedor 2.0
The second edition of Praedor came out exactly 20 years after its predecessor. The second edition is split into two hard-cover books: one for the players and another for the game-master.
There were several artists working on this edition, most notably Petri Hiltunen whose graphic novels the RPG is based on. I did a couple new pieces, including a bustling street scene with a retired adventurer, and a portrayal of a ritual in the ruins of Warth.
Orlanthi scholar
Despite the silence, there has been a steady progress in several illustration projects (still unpublished).
There’s also been regular gaming. Inspired by the new colorful Runequest, I sketched my character for the new Glorantha campaign starting today.
